I was her JH band director in the mid-1980s.  Very nice and gregarious student, and a good saxophone player too.  I never wanted to outlive my former students.  She is still very much missed.

I never met Charla, but I know her parent, Linda. She was my best friend through many years and I grieve because Linda is a very special person. I pray for all of Charla's friends and family. I wish I could see you Linda and talk with you again. It has been so very long since we have written each other.  I send my heartfelt condolences.

I first met Charla freshman year at Delano High School the fun, free spirited, girl that made everyone laugh. There will never be another like you, truly one of a kind, and those of us that met her and laughed along with her at her funny ways were very lucky. R.I.P MY FRIEND

I loved that about us. We always told each other we love one another every day. I will cherish that always. Your laugh always made me smile. I miss and love with all of my heart. Charla reminds me of the "Good Ol' Days"... such a free spirit and fun to be with.  I was her music teacher in grade school, and students like Charla is what makes teaching enjoyable, rewarding, and fun.  I'll never forget you and that crazy video we did with Mr, Pickett... "Eyemissedit News"... a classic that brings back so many memories.

My heart goes out to your many friends and family. You will be missed.

I played the sax in band with Charla in middle and high school. She was a strong leader and kept all of us younger band members in line. I will always remember her strong spirit and love of laughter. She will never be forgotten. May her children be guided by Charla all of their lives.

Charla you were one of a kind. The kinda person you meet and never forget my childhood memories with you feel like yesterday. You were just that kinda friend were years could go by but when we talked it was like there had been no lost time. Cause you were as real as it gets I loved that about you. I went to school with Charla since Columbine Elementary and we were friends all through highschool.  My name is Brandon Hampton.  I am so sorry to hear this tragic news.
