Carol Ann Bassett, 82, of Tracy, California, passed away on Friday, March 21, 2014 at her residence surrounded by her loved ones.
A Celebration of Carol's life will be held at North Kern District Cemetery in Delano, CA. on March 31, 2014, 10:00 a.m.
Carol was born July 24, 1931 in Circleville, KS., one of seven children born to Harve and Macle Kauffman. She was a proud graduate of Circleville High School, Class of 1949 and later graduated from Clarks Business School in Topeka, KS. She then moved to Delano, CA. in 1951, working as assistant for Southern California Edison. She married Robert Bassett, of Delano, CA. on May 2, 1953 in Delano, CA. Together they raised five children on the Bassett farm east of Delano. Carol attended the First United Methodist Church of Delano and worked as the church secretary for many years.
Carol was devoted to her family. She found joy in interacting with young children. Carol could often be found teaching her grandchildren how to collect eggs and care for chickens. She had a deep appreciation for animals and nature. Carol was generous in sharing the bounties of the farm, which included oranges, fresh eggs, and raisins.
She is survived by her sons, Alan (Deanna) Bassett, of Delano, CA., Brian (Maria) Bassett, of Tracy, CA., son-in-law, Robert Sayer, of Superior,CO., siblings, Rex (Diana) Kauffman, of Bakersfield, CA., Ned (Glenna) Kauffman, of Topeka, KS., Ted (Pat) Kauffman, of Lolo, MT. and Linda English, of Bakersfield, CA., 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Robert, her daughters, Beth Bassett, Gail Keefauver, Gwen Sayer, her parents Harve and Macle Kauffman, her siblings, Maxine Meyer and Ray Kauffman.
The family would like to acknowledge the staff at Astoria Gardens and Optimal Hospice for the loving care they provided Carol.
