Valerie Annette Shepherd

Valerie Shepherd passed away peacefully at home on September 4th, 2018 with loved ones by her side. She was born Valerie Annette Giles of Keith and Ivy Irene (Renee) Giles on July 13th, 1946 to a large family in Luton, England. Valerie is survived by her two sons Mark Giles and Jason Morales; daughter Joanne Harthill; and Jason’s wife Lori whom Valerie always thought of as a Daughter. She also has four grandchildren Ashley, Keith, Mikayla, and Beckie. She is preceded in death by Husband Michael Larue Shepherd who passed away on April 24, 1990; her brothers Leonard, Collin, and Michael; sisters Valerie Rose and Karen; and parents Keith and Renee. She is survived by her sisters: Lillian, Cyndy, Jackie, and Vanessa…as well as more than 50 neices and nephews.

Being the strong and brave person she was, Valerie left England at a young age and started a new life in America. She had a rough start to American life, but worked hard and always provided for her kids first. She later married her late husband Michael Shepherd who taught her to enjoy life which included camping and spending time with friends. Valerie spent most of her working life in manufacturing until she retired happily in 2012. During retirement, she spent her last few years with a long time family friend John Raml, with whom she was later engaged. They enjoyed their time together until John’s passing on May 16th, 2018.
