Trueman Maddux, Jr was born on November 19, 1943, in Durant, Oklahoma to Trueman and Lois Maddux. As an only child, Trueman Jr was their pride and joy. He attended kindergarten in Boswell, Oklahoma, and began his church life in the Church of Christ his grandfather built.
When he was 5, his father got hired at Tinker and moved the family to Oklahoma City in 1951, where Trueman attended 1st grade at Capitol Hill. The family moved to Del City in 1952, where he attended Del City schools from 2nd grade until he graduated from Del City High School in 1962. He joined the United States Air Force in 1962 and attained his Airframe and Powerplant licensure and became an aircraft sheet metal mechanic. He was baptized while stationed in Amarillo, Texas. After serving four years, he returned to Del City and began working at Downtown Airpark. His extensive skills and meticulous attention to detail led him to careers at Downtown Airpark, Tinker AFB, and the Creation of Maddux's Aircraft Repair, and the Federal Aviation Administration, where he retired on December 30, 2016.
Trueman joined the Del City Masonic Lodge #536, became a 32nd-degree Mason, and in 1981 became Worshipful Master of the Lodge. His love of dancing led him to meet his wife, Mary and on August 22, 1981, Trueman married Mary Jane Wadlow wed in the Del City Church of Christ. Together Trueman and Mary blended their family of six children and enjoyed many activities together: motorcycle riding, bowling, hunting, fishing, going to the movies, and watching football and Nascar. Trueman was a hard-working man who instilled his work ethic in his children. His sense of humor and quick wit will be remembered and honored by being passed down for generations.
On February 25, 2023, Trueman passed from this life with his family by his side and walked through the gates of Heaven. He was preceded in death by his parents, Trueman and Lois Maddux, best friend Joe Luttrell, and fur baby Sadie.
Trueman is survived by his wife, Mary. Children include daughter Donna Maddux-Dowdle, and her husband Sandy; son John Maddux and his wife Amy; daughter Vicki Bodine; son Scott Bodine and his wife Amanda; and daughter Amanda Henry and her husband Chris. Grandchildren: Caitlin, Ivory, J.T., Autumn, Seth, Caden, Zyler, and Paislee. His best friend and “brother” of 42 years, Ronnie Baker, and his wife, Rita. Trueman has numerous cousins and many friends who will mourn his passing.
