In 1941, the day after Troy graduated from high school, he joined the U.S. Navy just six months before WWII. Troy would go on to actively serve and retire after 20 years of service. He later went to work at Tinker Air Force Base as a warehouse supervisor for an additional 22 years of civil service. Troy loved everything about his church; from serving and helping people, to fixing things around the church. He enjoyed OU Football and has been listening to their games since 1939. Though you would never hear Troy speak of his good deeds, he was faithful in his giving to the Jesus House and the three Oklahoma orphanages. He was a man who wanted to make sure that others had what they needed. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by all that knew him.
Troy was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Marvin Shults. Survivors include his loving wife of 65 years, Mary Lou; children, Bruce Shults and wife, Betty, Darrell Shults and wife, Lois; grandchildren, Dasha Joseph and husband, Harvey, Rebekah Gossett and husband, Marty, Brian, Matt and Britteny Shults; great-grandchildren, Miranda and Sabiyah Salem, John-Mark, Benjamin, and Caleb Gossett.
