Mrs. Denney was born on August 8, 1916 in Fowler, Kansas to Joseph Carl and Olive B. (Bradwell) Newby. She moved to the family "Land Rush" farm near Mulhall, OK at an early age, and went through the primary and secondary schools there. She was a graduate of Oklahoma A&M College with a master's degree in music.
Mrs. Denney served her Lord throughout her life, and loved her familly with infinite patience and grace. She had a special love for children and music.
She taught English and music, served for many years as a Cub Scout Den Mother, was honored as a lifetime President of the PTA, taught at the Mexican Mission in Amarillo, helped her boys with their paper route, played piano at First Baptist Church in Amarillo, taught Sunday school, was superintendent of Sunday schools and managed the computerized membership systems at First Southern Baptist Church in Del City for many years, retiring at age 80.
She provided loving care to her husband in his last years, and has finally gone to receive her just rewards. She said little, and lived right.
The last of her generation, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Andrew Denney.
Survivors include three sons, Harold of Carollton, Texas, Ralph of Amarillo, Texas, and Carl of Brentwood, Tennessee; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and ten nieces and nephews.
