Roy John Smith was born on October 2nd 1952, to his parents Roy Douglas and Pauline Eitel. RJ came from a big family with 4 brothers and 3 sisters, where he was the 2nd oldest. RJ was born in Crowell, Texas but luckily they didn’t stay there long and moved to the great state of Oklahoma. He grew up in many small towns but eventually settled in Oklahoma City. This is where he went to school and bought his first and only house on the South-West side of Oklahoma City. He then started his job in bridge construction where he eventually retired. He could often be seen running around town with his brothers and cousins until one night at a bar he ran into his future wife and then his life truly began. RJ and Shelia were married on March 7th 1980. RJ was an amazing father to 4 children, an uncle, a Papa and a Great Papa. In his free time RJ had a few hobbies catfishing down in Binger, hunting in Lexington, or cruising around in “HIS” 67 mustang. He would get up at 6 A.M. to wash it and get it ready for whatever car show we had it in. His hobbies were many but his favorite pastime was always hanging out with his family. The random last minute cookouts on Saturdays or whatever random adventure his daughter had planned. RJ loved his family more than anything in the world and lets be honest we all know who his favorite was (which is debatable). RJ started his battle with cancer in 2015, and he gave it one heck of a fight. We all talk about how they don’t make stuff like they used to, well we can say the same thing about our Dad, cause they don’t make them like that anymore. After watching for years, the Lord said your fight is over, you shall have no more pain and gave him his wings on July 15th 2024. RJ was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister. The world is a duller place for a few of us now, but his work on earth was done and it was time for his guardian angel duties to begin. May his memory always put a smile on your face and fill your heart with love. You will truly be missed and always loved.
Rest in Peace, we all love you more than you’ll ever know. Love you Dad!
