Mitsuko moved with her GI husband and two young children to Oklahoma in 1973. She went on to work a 20-year career as a sales associate at J.C. Penney, where her most enjoyable perk was a sales associate discount for life.
In 1983, Mitsuko met the love her life, Jim Lyons. Together, Jim and Mitsuko enjoyed an active life of bowling, poker games, traveling, and holiday dinners with their blended family. That family included:
• Son, Charles Berreth
• Daughter, Debra Schmitt (husband: Brian, children: Joseph and Jenna)
• Stepson, Philip Lyons (wife: Nancy, son: Eric)
• Stepdaughter, Gina Woods (husband: Bill, children: Jack, Gavin, and Parker)
• Stepson, Paul Lyons (children: Joshua, Daniel, and Jamie)
Her husband Jim passed suddenly and unexpectedly in May 2014. It was a devastating blow from which she never completely recovered. Much of the joy in her life left her on that day. Mitsuko did maintain a close relationship with her daughter, Debra, and grandchildren, Joseph and Jenna, for the remainder of her life, attending the milestone events in their lives.
Mitsuko will be lovingly remembered as “Mema”, a role she embraced with her cute laugh, love of her grandkids, and sneaking treats to their pets under the table at family dinners. Please keep her forever in your prayers.
A memorial service for Mitsuko will be held on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at 10 am, at our new location, Bill Eisenhour at Sunny Lane located at 4000 SE 29th St. Del City, OK 73115.
