Mac, also known as “Doubleshot” was born to Imogene (Jean) and Eugene McFarland in Norman, OK on June 16, 1951. That is probably where his love of Sooner Football started. You could hear “Boomer Sooner” coming from the house any fall Saturday and see flags flying in the yard. Mac had a lifelong love of sports and could be found on a baseball team of some sort during most of his childhood. One day there was a big family fight (says one of his sisters) and Mom was packed and headed for the door when Mac called out (in the most pitiful voice) Momma, please…Don’t take the right guard. She broke out laughing and we got past it. Mac was proud to be an American and to show his love for his country he joined the US Army in 1971 and served 8 years. Once he was discharged, he went on to complete a 28 year tour with the United States Postal Service. When he retired, he became a karaoke host and was voted the best in Oklahoma City for 3 years running. He had a love for music and was always heard humming or singing. For his dad’s 80th birthday Mac’s dad was so happy that his son was living his father’s musical dream. His dad gave up his dream at 18 when he married Mac’s mom and Mac gave him a dream fulfilled that day (says his sister). He finally settled down to enjoy the rest of his life with his wife Traci. Mac was the most kind, caring, and compassionate man who you couldn’t help but befriend. He cherished his wife, family, and friends.
Mac is survived by his loving wife Traci McFarland, his daughter Jamie Lange, son Jay C. McFarland, stepdaughters Scharlea Shaver and Melissa (Travis) Moore. He has two loving sisters Carolyn (Chip) C. and Casey W. and sister in laws Dawna (Bruce) J., Tara (James) C., Jacki (Danny) Y. He is also survived by his best buddy Dale Eads, nephews Zach and Matt, and his eight grandchildren Nick, Joshua, Natalie, Kale, Liam, Becky, Aspen, and Brynleigh.
Mac was preceded in death by his mother Imogene (Jean) and father Eugene McFarland as well as his grandparents Emma and Harry McFarland and Bert and Amy Barnhill and, nephew Mitch, his best friend Tony Robinson.
