Melba Dunn passed away in her Del City home on February 26, 2022, after a long illness. She was born in 1936 in Antlers, Oklahoma. Growing up, she lived in several towns during her youth, moving with her family in support of her Father, a minister for the Assembly of God faith. Melba graduated from Cyril High School in 1954. From there, she moved to Oklahoma City and in that same year undertook employment at Tinker Air Force Base, where she worked for a total of 30 years before retiring in 1990. During her tenure she worked in several fields, spending the vast majority of her career as a Manpower & Staffing Specialist for the Directorate of Maintenance. On more than one occasion she said that she enjoyed both her position and her co-workers.
Melba is survived by her son, Bob Dunn of Del City, her daughter, Keri Young, and son-in-law, Hugh Young, of Norman. In addition, she is survived by her sister, Faye Showell, and brother-in-law, Lester Showell, of Choctaw. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, as well.
