

Marcella Jean Carlson-Bartl passed away on March 22, 2021. Marcella was born to Kenneth and Margaret (Lund) Carlson on December 10, 1940, in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. She was baptized at the White Stone Hill Church. Gwinner, ND, and confirmed at the GA Lutheran Church in Gwinner. She was an active member of the choir and Luther League. After graduating in 1958 from Gwinner High School, she attended Interstate Business College. After graduating she went to work as a secretary for KFGO radio station in Fargo, ND, until she married Elwood Bartl on September 16, 1960. Shortly after Marcella and Elwood married, they moved to Oklahoma City and started their lives together. To this union they had two children Joni (Max) Kreaps and Robert Alan Bartl. Marcella and Elwood were married 54 years.
Marcella worked in the cafeterias of many of the Oklahoma City schools while her children were in school. After Elwood retired, they enjoyed trips to North Dakota and Minnesota to visit family and friends. They enjoyed the Minnesota lakes where they enjoyed fishing and the outdoors. Marcella was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching the Minnesota Twins, the Vikings, and the OU sooners.
Marcella and Elwood were blessed with one grandson, Cole Kreaps (Virginia) and one great-grandaughter, Taylor Grace.
Marcella is survived by her daughter, Joni Kreaps and husband, Max; grandson, Cole and wife Virginia; and great-grandaughter, Taylor Grace; one sister, Judy Ellingson, one sister-in-law, Mardell Bartl, and nieces and nephew.
Marcella was preceded in death by husband, Elwood; son Robert; parents, Kenneth and Margaret Carlson and brother-in-law, Ray Ellingson.
