Juanita Marie Walker, 88 went to be with her Lord and Savior on June 25, 2019. She was born to John Robert and Mamie Murr Mefferd on August 16, 1930, in Cedar Mills, Texas. Her mother died when Juanita, known as Nita, was 3 months old. She was then raised by her aunt and uncle, Lillie and William Rodgers of Texas. Nita and her uncle moved to Sparks, Oklahoma in 1946. Nita graduated from Sparks High School in 1948.
Juanita married John Willie Walker on December 7, 1948, who preceded her in death on August 13, 2005. She was also preceded in death by her aunt, uncle and her parents. Moving to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma due to John’s employment in 1953, she became a 64- year member of the South Lindsay Baptist Church. Nita worked in the Nursery at the church for 35 years. She loved all the children and will also be remembered as the “Gingham Blanket Lady”, making blankets for all of the babies that came through the church nursery.
Nita is survived by her three children, daughter; Susan and Eddie Dean Reynolds, son; John Paul and Cheryl Walker and daughter; Gayla and Orden Hartley, 7 Grandchildren, 14 Great Grandchildren and 4 Great - Great Grandchildren. She was loved and will be missed by many.
