She was born on September 29, 1942 in De Queen, Arkansas to Cecil and Marguerite Bonner. She spent most of her childhood in Wright City, OK before moving to Oklahoma City. Most of her high school years were spent at Southeast High, but she graduated from Capitol Hill High School. She loved to sew, and did so until her eyesight wouldn’t allow her to. Joanne loved OU football and NASCAR. Her favorite driver was Joey Logano and he won the race the day she passed on. She would have really liked that. She was kind and giving and always thought of others before herself. Her love for her husband and family was inspiring to us all.
Gone before her were her father Cecil Clyde Bonner, mother Marguerite Blanton, brother Jim Bob Bonner, sister Chris Murphy, daughter Catherine Romano, son Richard Smith, and husband of 45 years Victor M. Smith.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Kimberley and Greg Ross of Harrah; grandson Dale Ross of Del City, grandson Brady Ross of Harrah, and granddaughters Sabrina and Jeannie Romano of Ohio; brothers Jim and John Blanton on Arizona; beloved cousins Sally Stinchcomb and Edwana King; niece Janetta Mixon; and beloved friends Margaret Young and Arvella McCoy.
Visitation for Joanne will be from 12-8pm Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home. The family will have a private graveside service, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband, Victor, at Spring Creek Memorial Cemetery in Oklahoma City.
