Delores “JoAnn” Estell, 87, of Bixby former longtime resident of Del City passed away July 20, 2018. JoAnn was born January 21, 1931 to Joseph Clifton and Anna Loraine (Hull) Holman in South Haven, KS.
JoAnn graduated from Putnam City High School in 1949. She married the love of her life, Jesse M. Estell at Linn Avenue Baptist Church in Oklahoma City on February 10, 1952. In 1957, she joined Mid Way Baptist Church. The church moved and was renamed Del Crest Heights Baptist Church and then renamed again as Del Baptist Temple. JoAnn was a faithful member until September of 1989. In October of 1989, she moved membership to Bodine Baptist Church. After moving to Bixby, she later moved membership to Eastland Baptist Church. JoAnn took a lot of pride in being involved with the church. She taught special ministries Sunday school at Del Crest Heights Baptist Church, special ministries Sunday school at Bodine Baptist Church, and helped with special ministries at Eastland Baptist Church. JoAnn was in the Red Hat Club during her stay at Sand Plum Assisted Living. She competed in Ms. Senior Oklahoma after winning Miss Sand Plum in 2011.
JoAnn is survived by her brother, David Leroy Tate of Yukon, OK; children, Howard Lee Estell and wife Mary of Ft. Worth, TX, Shirley Jones and husband Robert of Bixby, OK; grandchildren, Sam Estell of Edmond, OK, Lane Cooper of Edmond, OK, Jeremy Jones of Tulsa, OK, Ryan Jones of Bixby, OK; great grandchildren, Ashley Cooper of Stillwater, OK, Austin and Chance Estell of Oklahoma City, OK, and a great-great granddaughter, Delta Yvonne of Birmingham, AL.
JoAnn is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Anna Holman; daughter, Louise Marie Estell; husband, Jesse M. Estell; sister, Hattie Louise Holman, and brothers, Jimmy Lee Tate and Jerry Arlis Tate.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 27, 2018 at Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home in Del City, Oklahoma. Burial will immediately follow at Arlington Memory Gardens in Midwest City, Oklahoma.
