JACKIE FRANKLIN GILMORE (Always called JACK), was born June 19, 1938 in Hugo, Oklahoma to JOSEPH MYLES GILMORE and LETA MAE MONK GILMORE. He entered into God’s peace on December 15th, 2023 in Oklahoma City at the age of 85.
He was married to SAUNDRA LEIGH BRAWNER on November 25, 1960, and they were married for 63 years.
Jack attended the Oklahoma Military Academy his senior year of high school, and his freshman year of college. He then attended 1 year at OU, and 2 years at Southeastern University in Durant.
He worked as a switchman for Southwestern Bell and after 31 years, retired as a Network Maintenance Supervisor.
Jack, always wanted to stay busy. He eventually reentered the work force traveling throughout the area doing contract telecommunications work and later worked for the Oklahoma Blood Institute.
Both Jack and Saundra enjoyed traveling in their RV and had many adventures together. Jack was an Eagle Scout and enjoyed helping 3 of his grandsons achieve the same rank in the Boy Scouts of America. He attended several scout camps with the boys.
Jack loved gadgets and was an avid collector of all kinds of tools. He really loved trying new restaurants and eating at the good ones.
Jack & Saundra have been members of the Del City Church for 57 years, having started attending in 1966. He served as a Deacon, bus driver, food buyer for Meals On Wheels and helping cook the meals.
He was known by several nicknames in the family: Jack, Daddy, Pop, Jack-Daddy, and Grand Daddy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and by his sister Hazel Williams.
He is survived today by his wife Saundra of the home, daughter Jacklyn Leigh and husband Ken Keeler of OKC. Son David Myles and wife Lowery Gilmore of Alba, TX. Son Joseph Franklin and wife Heather (Martin) Gilmore of Glendive, Montana. He is also survived by his grandchildren Kendall Keeler, Kyleigh Geary and husband Justin, Brad Gilmore, Jon Gilmore, Cameron Gilmore, Lauren and husband Daniel Ayobi. Great-grandchildren Makiah Keeler, Nevaeh Keeler, Carter Geary, Cason Geary, and Miles Gilmore.
The family has requested that anyone wishing to give a memorial gift In lieu of flowers should give that to Del City Church of Christ Meals on Wheels program.
