Johnny Harold Thompson was born to Glenn and Ollie Thompson at their home on Lost Creek near Parrish, Alabama on March 29, 1933. He died on February 26, 2022 in Midwest City, OK at Sienna Extended Care. He is now, finally and forever, at home in the house built by his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!
J. Harold followed Jesus as his Lord and Savior and was baptized as a young boy. He was a member of Country Estates Baptist Church when he went home to his Lord. He married Mamie Jean Morrison on March 25, 1951 and together they began an adventure that would span seven decades. J. Harold served as a pastor and evangelist in Oklahoma beginning with FBC Colbert, where his father had pastored and where he met Mamie, and ending at Brookline Baptist Church in OKC. In between was a ministry that spanned 60 plus years and 7 decades. It would be impossible to name all the churches and people impacted by his faithfulness. First, and foremost, J. Harold was a faithful husband to Mamie and the father of 5, grandfather of 14, great-grandfather of 32, and great-great-grandfather of 2. He also has dozens more extended family members and hundreds, if not thousands, who considered him family as their friend, pastor, or spiritual father.

I realize that was a lot of names and I left out dozens and dozens that were just as important to Dad. Mom and Dad’s progeny list reminds me of the genealogies in Scripture. It was important to read all those names this afternoon because each of those names represents a life that was precious to my Dad. Building on the lessons they learned watching both sets of my grandparents. Mom and Dad both faithfully called out each of those names to the Lord every day in prayers of gratitude and petition.
