Genevieve Williams, 73, loving mother and devoted GiGi left this earthly plane on March 17, 2023. Genevieve was born April 6, 1949 to G.C. and Ethel Harrington. She grew up in the Oklahoma City area and graduated from Central High School in 1967. She met the first love of her life on September 2, 1967 when her first child, Riley, was born. Her second love, Heather, followed February 15, 1985. She built a life around her love and devotion to her children.
During high school Genevieve attended the cosmetology program, while she never pursued a career in the beauty industry she could often be found over the years providing family members with a quick trim. She instead chose to provide for her family through a career at the AT&T Technologies plant, located in Oklahoma City. She was a dedicated employee and career long union member.
Genevieve held no greater joy than being a mother and grandmother. She made great sacrifices for her children and put them before everything and everyone. She was immensely proud of them and their lives. She shared her love and pride for them with everyone she came across. She supported them with unwavering love. She always said, “All I need to be happy are my kids.”
Genevieve was full of life, spunk, and love. She was humble and kind hearted, always quick to help and to love. Her favorite past times included gardening, going to yard sales, shopping for her loved ones, caring for her family, and helping others. She was selfless and giving. Whenever she came across someone struggling, if she could help she would. Anything from providing a meal to a hungry stranger, a coat for someone in the cold, to a few dollars for someone ahead of her at the grocery store who might be a little short until pay day. She cared deeply and loved fiercely.
She was a proud Native American and member of the Chickasaw Tribe. She never failed to let people know of her heritage and all the tribal accomplishments. She enjoyed her travels with other Chickasaw Elders and treasured the friendships made throughout those trips.
Genevieve was preceded in death by her grandparents, Benjamin Loren and Harriet Ledbetter; her parents, G.C. and Ethel Harrington; and her lifelong best friend and soul sister, Theresa Luster.
She is survived by her son, Riley Fields; her daughter, Heather Ward, and husband Todd; her grandchildren Olivia, Blaine, and Jacob; her siblings, Patsy Blemmel, Shirley Bailey, Kenneth Harrington, and Kathern Freeman. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews.
