Gayle Edwina Messenger Kelley Huff was a beacon of love and dedication, born on March 1, 1943, in Ogden, Utah, as the cherished surprise, the youngest of thirteen children to Allen and Edwina Messenger. Her fiery red hair mirrored her spirited nature, a trait that defined her throughout her life. After maturing into a strong and compassionate woman, Gayle embarked on her journey alongside her first husband, Rex Kelley, and their daughter, Valerie Kelley. Moving to Oklahoma in 1975, Gayle planted roots and cultivated a beautiful family life.
Her legacy lives on through her beloved daughter, Valerie, who carries forward Gayle's spirit alongside her own family. Gayle adored her four grandchildren—David, Sara, Levi, and Hailey as well as 11 cherished great-grandchildren. She loved and was loved by numerous family members including siblings, cousins, nieces and nephews and cherished friends.
Gayle's life took a beautiful turn when she met and married Matthew Dan Huff, with whom she shared 32 years of unwavering devotion. Their love story was a testament to commitment and shared faith as devoted members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Her professional journey spanned 33 years at Tinker Air Force Base in the finance department, showcasing her dedication and diligence. Retirement didn't slow her down; instead, it allowed Gayle and Matt to extend their warmth to others by hosting countless dinners for missionaries, orchestrating Holiday events for the family, and actively participating in church and community affairs.
On November 15, 2023, Gayle passed away peacefully in her sleep at her cherished home, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and tireless generosity that will forever resonate in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. Gayle's impact was profound, her kindness immeasurable, and her memory eternal. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all those whose lives she touched.
A Memorial Service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Midwest City, on Tuesday, November 21, at 6:30 PM.
