Frances Louene Hembree knew this world was not her home. For the journey was to be for a short time as God has his reason and purpose for her life. God knew Louene was getting tired and weary and said ““come home to me.” He sent his angels to carry Louene above the clouds to her heavenly home on Dec. 17, 2022.
Frances Louene was born on May 29, 1938 to Loyd and Rosa (Smith) Owen in Durant, Oklahoma. Louene Graduated from Durant High School in 1956 and received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Southeastern Oklahoma State University majoring in business, economics, and sociology. She worked as a case worker for the Department of Human Services in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. Then she returned to college studying Teacher Education.
In October, 1974 Louene moved to Oklahoma City to work for the Oklahoma Regents for Higher Education, the governing board of colleges and universities of Oklahoma. At the Regents Office she worked in the administrative services office and was responsible for payroll and benefits. To further her education, she attended Oklahoma State University in Oklahoma City. Louene retired August 31, 1997 with thirty five years of service with the state of Oklahoma.
Louene was a member of The First Baptist Church in Moore, Oklahoma. For many years she sang in the Senior Adult Choir, Celebration Choir, and directed the Children’s Choirs. She has taught Sunday School Children’s classes for several years. Louene began taking piano lessonswhen she was seven and then continued with organ lessons. She started playing the piano in church when she was twelve years old and later became the church organist.
Louene enjoyed working with numbers, she worked in accounting and payroll and then took classes to train in Income Tax Preparation. She worked several years in the evening during tax season for H&R Block. After she retired she became a volunteer for the AARP TCE Tax Program. She spent many years with the program. This was a service she gave to the community using the gift God gave her.
Louene was a vivid reader and has a large personal library. Her Hobbies were crocheting, embroidery, making Christmas Ornaments, and flower arrangements.
On May 5, 1978 she married Robert Ray Hembree. Robert and Louene shared many interests doing them together, sewing garments, crafts and square dancing with two square clubs.
