Forrest Raymond Smith, of Del City, was reunited with the love of his life, Blanche Helen Smith, on February 8th, 2011. Forrest, the eldest of four sons, was born July 30th, 1922 to Raymond and Rose Smith. He was a 1941 graduate of Crooked Oak High School. Forrest served in the US Navy during World War II from 1942 through 1946. He retired from civil service at Tinker AFB after 30 years of service. On October 16th, 1946, one day before her 20th birthday, Forrest married Blanche Helen Canada. He always said that “he was the best birthday present she ever received”. Forrest enjoyed playing the guitar and singing in jam sessions with his brothers and with friends at Lake Texoma. He also enjoyed going to the lake, playing ‘cow pasture pool’, bowling, swimming with his wife at Rose State College and being with family. He loved being ‘Papaw’ to his grandchildren and great grandchildren. His wife of 63 years, Blanche and his brother Bob Smith precedes him in death. He is survived by his son, Tommy Smith and daughter-in-law Debra of Edmond; daughter Helen Sisco and son-in-law Robert of Moore; grandchildren, Andrew Smith, Michael Smith, Melissa Russell, Robin Jones, Trea Towe; seven great grandchildren; brothers, Jim Smith and Kenneth Smith.
