Duan Albert Fairbanks
"Giniwiganzh"
Eagle Clan
Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe tribal member
Duane Albert Fairbanks passed away sometime early December and is survived by his three sons, Chris, Brendan, John, eight grandchildren, and three siblings Priscilla, Johnny Mack, and Kathryn. He is preceded in death by siblings Robert Fairbanks, Richard Fairbanks, and Tawana Fairbanks.
Duane liked to race pigeons, play bingo every night, play the violin, listen to classical music and sasquatch podcasts, and drink beer. He is an army veteran of the Vietnam war and was honorably discharged from the service in July of 1972.
His most notable traits were keeping to himself, not giving a damn, staying out of everyone's business, and playing practical jokes on his sister Priscilla growing up in south Oklahoma City. He was a mathematician and an even better teacher of Algebra. He ran cross country in high school with a personal record of 10:32 in the 2-mile run.
Everywhere he went, he greeted people with a "howdy!" Duane will be greatly missed!
Duane will be given his final instructions to the Spirit World, the Land of Everlasting Happiness, on December 22, 2023 at 10am. His son, Brendan, will have the honor of giving his father his final instructions as he journeys on the road back to our ancestors.
