Donna peacefully passed away on the evening of May 5, 2018 with her niece and husband (Stephanie and Dan) and granddaughter Keisha at her bedside. In Aug 2017 Donna moved to Arkansas and lived with Stephanie and Dan who were her full time caretakers.
Donna was born (1927) in Oberlin, KS on a farm to Alfred and Opal Pelkey McChesney. She had an older brother, Carl (1925), then 2 more brothers Dale (1929) and Lea Don (1941). Finally, a sister, Vergie (1944).
She married Dave McCaun on Feb. 2 1946 in Norton, KS and had 3 sons, Larry (1947), Gary (1949), and David Lee (1952). Before moving to Oklahoma City in the early 50’s, they lived in Minatare, NE and Clovis, NM.
On Aug 4, 1979 in Oklahoma City, she married John Ward.
Most of her adult life she worked as a waitress at OKC airport for Sky Chef as well as hostess at various restaurants. Even managed to work in the accounting department for a hotel in downtown OKC….not her cup of tea (too confining)---went back to hosting.
As a member in good standing at Southern Hills Baptist Church, she volunteered for EVERYTHING they had to offer in a multitude of programs. She loved to fish, dance, sing, work in her garden, travel, AND MOST OF ALL CHRISTMAS.
