Derral was born September 8, 1945 in Oklahoma City, OK to Cloyes B. and Edna Mae (Cooper) Punneo.
He attended Oklahoma City Public Schools and achieved his GED in 1970. Derral worked in construction and furniture manufacturing until he applied for the Oklahoma Highway Patrol in 1971. During his 30 year career in the Highway Patrol his assignments included Tulsa County, Executive Security, Special Operations – State Capitol Park, Troop A-OKC, Troop B-Tulsa, Motor Vehicle Inspection, Asset Forfeiture, Transportation, Troop C-Muskogee, Troop D-McAlester and Motor Cycle Safety. Derral retired from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol in 2000 at the rank of 1st Lieutenant. After his OHP retirement Derral returned to the construction industry as an inspector until 2010. Derral was past president of the Oklahoma Sheriffs & Peace Officers Association.
Derral was life-long avid fisherman, genealogist and enjoyed traveling.
He is survived by his wife, Pam (Osburn) Punneo of the home; son, Robert Punneo of Owasso, daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Bill White of Piedmont; grandchildren, Joshua & Laura White of Yukon, Cortney & Austin Drake of Ft. Stewart, GA and Zachary & Meagan White of Ft. Campbell, KY; sister, Marie Ashworth of Oklahoma City, brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Mary Punneo of Edmond. Derral was preceded in death by his brother, Junior.
