Charles Verlos Tippett Jr.

Charles "Chuck" Verlos Tippett Jr. passed away on January 22, 2014 in Norman,Oklahoma. He is survived by one daughter,Natasha L. Sodowsky and her husband Jason T. Sodowsky of Enid,Ok; one sister,Stormy Tippett Lee of Moore,Ok; Three grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and countless friends. Chuck, or "Chuck the Duck" as many people knew him, grew up in Moore,Oklahoma. He had two brothers and one sister who called him her buddy. He was a graduate of Moore High School, and stayed an active member of the school alumni. Chuck could often be seen cheering for the Moore Lions at many of their high school football games. He served four years in the U.S. Navy. After being honorably discharged in 1967, he resided in his hometown of Moore,Oklahoma, where he lived the majority of his life. A few years after being discharged from the Navy he went to work for Children's Hospital. Chuck worked there for over twenty years. After retirement, he loved volunteering his time at the VA, and Brand Center in Moore. In November 2012 he received a certificate of award for serving 763 hours, and 5 years to the Oklahoma City Veterans Affairs Medical Center. However, he'd already spent countless more hours selflessly volunteering up until then. Chuck kept volunteering his time to others until 2013 when he was just physically unable. He never met a stranger, and would often tell people they were no longer a stranger to him; they were now his friend. Once you met him, you couldn't help but love him! Chuck was the most loving, caring, genuine, and kindhearted man anyone ever knew. He was also a dog lover, and leaves behind two dogs. Chuck is preceded in death by his parents, Charles V. Tippett Sr. and Martha Mae Tippett; brothers, Gilbert "Butch" Tippett and Kenneth Tippett. Funeral Services for Chuck will be held on Saturday, February 1,2014 2:00 at the Sunny Lane Funeral Home and Cemetery. For those who are unable to make it to the funeral, but still would like to say their goodbyes to Chuck he will be available for viewing on Friday, January 31 from 8am - 8pm at the Sunny Lane Funeral Home.
