She was born in Oklahoma City on August 26, 1960, to Ray and Barbara Upton.
She spent the early part of her life in Oklahoma City and West Memphis, Arkansas. She graduated from Southeast High School and married her sweetheart, Jimmie Don Hatch on April 10, 1981 in Moore, Oklahoma. Betty was a homemaker and loved caring for her son JD and her husband, Jimmie.
Betty was active in Special Olympics where she supported JD and his friends in all types of activities and events from bowling and basketball to track and other athletic events. Betty was an avid supporter of the University of Oklahoma because JD and Jimmie loved the Sooners. She filled JD’s room with trophies and autographs of all the football and basketball players that he loved. She saw to it that JD got to meet and get autographs from many of these Sooner players. She wanted JD to lack for nothing.
Betty gave her life to Jesus Christ as a teenager while at youth camp and she loved supporting her family, her friends, and her community. She was known as someone who would do anything for anybody at anytime. She loved helping others. She believed in telling everyone about her Savior and making sure that they knew Him too. She knew where she would spend eternity and wanted others to have that same peace. She was never afraid to tell anyone about the Lord.
