Steven Charles Thomas

Steve Thomas, age 71, a lifelong resident of Deerfield Beach, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2024, surrounded by his family.

Born in Hollywood, FL, on November 4, 1952, Steve attended Pompano Beach High School. He was one of the owners of the family-owned Thomas Roofing Company for 52 years. Steve actively participated in Deerfield Beach Little League baseball, serving as a coach (winning several little league titles) and commissioner of the minor leagues.

Steve had a passion for Pickleball long before it gained popularity. He shared his love for the game with many and formed lasting friendships. Growing up in “The Cove,” the beach was always his favorite spot. Later in life, he resided within walking distance and enjoyed the beach daily.

Steve was a devoted father and an amazing Papa. He is survived by his daughter Lexi Broxson (Shawn), sons Jason Thomas and Jared Thomas, sister Lesley Gaines (Rick), brother Clay Thomas, and his grandson Thomas, who was his pride and joy. He will be lovingly remembered as “Uncle Steve” by his eleven nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Mildred Thomas.

A funeral service will be held at Zion Ministries Under the Cross in Deerfield Beach on Monday, August 19th at 9:30 am. Following the service, a celebration of life will take place at Anthony’s Coal Fire Pizza located at 1203 S. Federal Highway, Pompano Beach, at 11:00 am.
