Deepest condolences to the Plante family from the faculty and staff at Bair Middle  School. Mike joined us as a young man, full of energy and wanting to make us all  healthy. He was a fantastic teacher, a man who interacted with students and colleagues in a very positive manner. He was a light in our school. 
Mike made me do my first burpee and my first wall squat. Despite his best intentions, I think I frustrated him😂 Mike returned to Bair for our Career Day, and the kids said he looked like a truck. 
May he Rest In Peace.  May God bless and comfort you all.

To Evelyn and Amelia,

Your father loved you and beamed with pride every time he talk about you.  He was so proud to your Dad.  I have known him for what seems like forever and while he left us to early he will in your hearts forever.  If you ever need someone to tell you a story or help you learn about your Dad, there will be a crew lining up around the block to tell you all about him.  His legacy will live on because of the two of you.  He will always be in your hearts and that is something that can never fade away.  Just remember that even though he is gone he will love you both forever and will always be looking down.

I’m so sorry.  Mike loved you so much.  You made him smile.  I got to see it first hand and you made him a better man.  Those closet to him will forever be in your debt.  I can’t fathom the pain you are going through but know that there will always be people here for you long after these next few days.  You’ve been a rock for your girls and will remain one but we will always be here for you.  God bless.

To Jennifer and Chris, 

A few of us have had the privilege of getting to know you both through him.   We were all lucky.  I know he loved you in only Mike’s way.  Jenn you’re the rock and Chris you will hold this all together.  I’m so sorry that you have lost your brother.  I know you will be there for your parents and your nieces and help carry on Mike’s legacy.   

To Mr and Mrs Plante,

You didn’t just raise three kids, you raised Brent, Steve, Noah, Frankie, Todd and all the rest of us including me.  Losing Mike is losing a  brother.  We all feel it.  You raised a son who impacted so many and will leave a legacy that will never be forgotten.  He made us all better. You did that as parents.  I am so sorry for this loss but know Mike will be in our hearts forever.  

To Mike,

Save me a seat at the Time Out Tavern in the sky.  The stories will be endless.  See you on the other side.  Rest easy.

We are so saddened to learn of Mike’s passing. It seems like just yesterday when we were among the other parents watching Mike play football with the Whitesboro Warriors. Please accept our deep sympathy from Joe and Barbara Granato in Whitesboro, New York.

Big Mike was a guy your could not miss, the first day of work out Wednesday in the office I was scared of this bigger than life man coming into to give us a work out it had me sweating like crazy and I couldn’t believe I did it all without weights.  Always encouraging always giving us a good laugh and licking some of the most random music! He will be missed by many! Thoughts and prayers for the family, the good ones die young and his family gained a perfect guardian angel.

We are so sorry to hear about Mike’s passing. We have many great memories of him with the Whitesboro crew. You are all in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

You weren’t just Big Mike for your size, you were Big Mike for how you lived your life. Your big personality and your big laugh that was heard before you were in sight. You made everyone you met want to be a better person, you encouraged everyone to be healthy and strong. We all looked up to you in so many ways.

I’ll tell my kids bedtime stories of Big Mike, the real life Hercules who had muscles bigger than daddy’s! 

Thank you for leaving this world a better place. You have taught me to live big and love fiercely, because life will always be too short. You’re a legend and we will never forget you.

My deepest sympathies to the Plante Family. I hope Mike is sitting in his red Ford Tempo looking down on us as we reminisce about the past. I hope someone asks him why he always wears sunglasses so he can say "the sun shines on a cool person 24 hours a day". I hope he remembers more of the good times and less of the bad. Most of all, I hope he knows how much he will be missed

I am saddened and so very sorry to hear about Mike.  I was very fortunate to have been friends with Mike from elementary school through college. I have so many fond memories of Halloween parties at the Plante household, sleep over birthday parties and just hanging out with the fam.  The games of pitch in high school, watching football together and hanging out by the keg at a party were always great times with Mike. 

Playing football together was a brotherhood bond that Mike and I shared.  We both hit the gym hard and had a great respect for each other’s work ethic.  Always the joker, Mike nicknamed me Arnold Gump.  I remember one practice when our full back broke a long run and Mike chased him down before he could reach the end zone.  He always had a nose for the ball and it was fun to play opposite corner back from him.  Junior year Mike and I were inseparable on the side line.  Coach told us to stay close so he could shuttle us in when the seniors made a mistake and we were always pumped to get in and make a difference.  

During college there were the  K Rockathons at Vernon Downs and the occasional casino trip.  One particular casino trip  we were 20 years old and I lost a week’s  pay sitting next to Mike at the black jack table while he was crushing it. On our way out Mike hit a high stakes table with a 50 and doubled down. He handed me the win and thanked me for sticking it out next to him at the black jack table. 
So many good times that I’m grateful to have had with Mike.

To the Plante Family, I’m so sorry for your loss. Mike was one of the first friends I made when I moved to Whitesboro and for that, I will be forever grateful. I will remember the times we spent as kids, hanging with the neighborhood crew, playing football together, and cracking jokes on each other. Mike was full of energy and cared about those in his circle.  Someone you could count on. I’m thankful to have known Mike and for all the good times we shared.  He will truly be missed. Mike played football for me at Whitesboro nearly 30 years ago. I remember him and his family well. Mike had a boundless energy and enthusiasm for the game of football, his teammates and friends back then. I am greatly saddened to hear of his passing and send my condolences to everyone who loved him.

Mr. Plante you were the best neighbor teacher a pregnant lady could ever have! Your concern and generosity will never be forgotten! On behalf of my mother Selma, who is the 94 year old referenced as one of Michael's clients, she wishes for me to share this: "I didn't look at Michael as a trainer, I looked at him as a friend. I looked forward to our sessions together because we not only did exercises, but we talked about many things, including theater, what was happening around us, and his family. It was particularly joyful when he brought his daughters to the zoom screen so that they could say hello to me--his pride for them was obvious. I am shocked by his passing and will miss him terribly. I am sending much love to his family and friends."

Even though our teams did not alway win, football Sunday will never be without thoughts of Mike. Reliable, supportive, and generous, Mike, thank you for your wonderful light.

Coach Mike is what I called him but he was much more. Workout Wednesday turned into Zoom workouts on Tuesday.  Always making sure I was there and pushing me to do my best. Mike was genuinely interested and cared about everyone he came in contact with. Personally he kept me working out through chemo treatments this last year. Asked about EVERY scan, test,dr. appt making sure all was good. God takes the good ones and he sure got a great one. I will miss his smile, his enthusiasm for everything but most of all I will miss my friend. Thoughts and prayers to the whole family. Rest easy my friend. GO BILLS!

Heven recruited one of the best…  He had a heart of gold, encouragement for days, believed in you when you didn't have it in yourself, and the love to move mountains for his 3 girls.  He will be strongly missed and my thoughts and love goes out to his family. Big Mike, we will miss you terribly but we will find your memory in life so you will live on in our hearts.

Big Mike was my best friend.  We never missed a joke or current event together or an excuse to argue.  That is to say we texted back and forth joking/arguing/laughing at least 10-100 times per day for the past 5-6 years. He knew how to make people laugh until they cried and when to be stubborn until I wanted to cry!  I will miss you more than I can say right now. My thoughts and prayers are with your family Big Mike!

I’m a student of mr.plant and I had him for 6th period at plantation middle school today around 3:21 - 3:30 i got the news from my principal that me.Plante passed away, when i heard the news I was shocked but emotional at the same time I knew mr.Plante for a short time but he was a wonderful teacher for the time I had him I remember the last time I saw him he told me that I was a wonderful student and that he’s sorry that the class was disruptive but I made sure to turn my work in on time I didn’t know that’s was going to be the last time I saw him. He was a good person you can just tell when you see him he told us about his kids and how he loves the gym is I have time I would love to stop by at his funeral to honor him one last time. To anybody that sees this just know he was an amazing man , father, husband , son and brother I hope that his family is ok and I pray to protect them all. Ps. Swindyahna

Mr. Plante was my history teacher this year. Even though it was a short time knowing him he was a really great teacher he was kind and respectful. He was a great teacher to talk to and I'm glad to have known him. My condolences to his family friends and loved ones he will be truly missed- his student Reyna santana

Very few people can walk into a crowded room and be noticed. Even fewer peoples’ laugh can echo through that same crowded room and bring joy to those around. Big Mike was in that select few who could do both. A giant teddy bear whose laugh echoed through the room. 

The first time I met him was the same as each time thereafter, open arms from a genuine and kind person. My wife Katy reminded me that the first time I met him I kept telling him my biceps were bigger, something that was clearly not true. That’s the day that Big Mike taught me what an eclipse was. He had me flex, then flexed in front of me….to say my arm was no longer visible is an understatement. The laugh that followed may have been heard on the moon. 

Every time I was around Big Mike he radiated confidence and joy, friendliness, and most of all, a laugh that filled the room. In all honesty, the only character flaw that Big Mike had was that he was a Bills fan, but we all make mistakes.

Mike will be missed by everyone who had the pleasure to cross paths with him, and I have no doubt he will be remembered by them as well.

Thanks for keeping me strong with weight training, for loving camo and Metallica, and for the cold Bud Light you found for me when we finally got to Colorado for Jen’s wedding! And for loving everything red, white and blue! But most of all thank you for loving my daughter the way you did and for giving us two awesome granddaughters who loved their daddy so much!
