Mary Lou Patterson, 86, of Deerfield Beach, FL, passed away peacefully on Monday morning, January 21, 2019, at Regents Park of Boca Raton after her battle with cancer. Mary was born in Lebanon, IN and had 3 siblings. She worked both inside and outside the home to provide for her family, but never missed a cheerleading or race car event for her kids. Nothing was more important to her than her family. In 1970, she relocated to South Florida with her husband and 2 children. Shortly after, her sister Viola followed, and the two were inseparable. They joined First Christian Church of Pompano Beach where they became very involved with the Women’s Ministry. They were especially focused on supporting the Family Ministry of Florida, which touched a soft spot in their hearts due to their difficult childhood experiences. Despite these challenges, Mary will always be remembered for her beautiful smile, love for her family, and for giving with a full heart. Her faith in Jesus Christ, strength, and love for family will be carried on for generations to come.
She is survived by her brother, John (Betty) Tague; daughter, Bonnie (Ron) Coddington; granddaughter, Courtney (Joshua) Adams; great-grandsons, Christopher & Kaleb Adams; grandsons, Cory (Kelly) Coddington and William Coddington; great-granddaughter Bryn Coddington; and many nieces, nephews, and wonderful friends. She is predeceased by her beloved son, Mark Stevens; and her sisters Virginia (Texal) Latham and Viola (William) Wolfe. A memorial service will be held at Kraeer-Becker Funeral Home at 217 E Hillsboro Blvd, Deerfield Beach, FL 33441 on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at 2:00pm. Interment will take place in Mooresville, Indiana.
