Following a vibrant, radiant life of joy with unconditional love for family and all walks of life, Katherine is survived by her son Ronald Pizzella, daughter Barbara Pizzella, daughter in law, Christine, and two grandsons, Joseph Pizzella and James Pizzella. Katherine is the daughter of Julius and Helen Galante and later the wife of Louis A Pizzella whom she married on May 16, 1948. Katherine was born on September 6, 1925 and passed on April 18, 2023, at the age of 97 from natural causes.
Katherine graduated from Hunter College in New York City with a Bachelor of Arts in 1946, was inspired to be a dietician, and served patients at Bellevue Hospital in New York City. She then found a career in teaching when the family moved to Florida in 1958. She was active in the PTA and various school functions in loving support of her children’s ambitions. In 1967 Katherine founded a business with her husband Lou, and together with their son Ron for 20 years operated the highly successful Lou’s Market of North Miami. Katherine’s beloved husband Lou passed on in 1987. Katherine and her son Ron continued the legacy of Lou’s Market together until selling in 1990, then starting another successful business, Ronbar Properties. They supported each other’s strengths—Katherine astutely and perfectly managing all the paperwork and books, Ron getting it done managing the properties and tenants. In her glorious retirement, Katherine’s beloved daughter Barbara ensured she traveled often, and in style, to experience the beauties and cultures of America and Europe, especially Italy.
Acting in true Love with every choice she ever made, Katherine inspired life as a devoted wife, mom, grandma, and friend. Katherine spoke English and all the romance languages —Italian, Spanish, and French. Even in her 80's, Katherine served as an Altar Woman at St. Matthew's Parish in Hallandale, FL.
Throughout all of her life, Katherine expressed true passion in being a fabulous gourmet cook and wonderful baker.
Katherine touched every life in every moment with authenticity, strength, truth and Love. Always saying ‘Thank you God!’, Katherine was grateful every day for everything and everyone. You will always have a home in our hearts and be celebrated through us, forever!
