John Joseph Gibbons Jr.

John Joseph Gibbons Jr., a resident of Deerfield Beach, FL, and former resident of Maspeth, Queens, NY passed away on August 22, 2023 at the age of 70. He was born in Brooklyn, NY on February 26, 1953, the oldest son of John J. Gibbons, Sr. and Domenica Gibbons (nee D’Alia). John graduated from Queens Community College with an AAS degree in Electrical Technology and was employed by the NYC Metropolitan Transit Authority for over 30 years. He also had his own business as a licensed electrician. He retired in 2013 as a Road Train Inspector and Train Purchasing Agent. In his free time, he socialized with friends at O’Neils which was a neighborhood Bar and Restaurant in Maspeth, NY. In 2017, he moved to Deerfield Beach, FL with his wife of 14 years, Nadia Gibbons (nee DiBenedetto). While living in Maspeth, NY, he spent many summers on the beach in Hampton Beach, Long Island, winters downhill skiing at Hunter Mountain and following and playing horses at the race track in Saratoga Springs, NY.

While in Florida he spent time golfing, fishing, buying and selling antique trains and riding on his boat with family and friends. To know John was to love him as he was very generous and social and would lend a hand to anyone whenever necessary. He enjoyed life immensely and left us broken hearted too soon.

He is survived by his Wife, Nadia, his step-daughter, Rosalie Callazzo (Robert), his dog, Louie, and sisters, Maureen Michaels(Joseph-deceased 2014), Joan Thomas (William), Patricia Gibbons (Tim Lewis), brothers, James Gibbons and Michael Gibbons as well as many nieces and nephews and step-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 29, 2023 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm at the Kraeer Funeral Home on 217 E. Hillsboro Blvd, Deerfield Beach, FL 33441 to celebrate his life.
