He was born on August 9, 1940, in Islip, New York to Elsie Hennis Wortmann and Herbert Wortmann. He was an active member of AA for over 21 years, where he was a supportive friend to many members. He worked in Construction Management and Estimating for most of his life. He was passionate about fishing and boating.
He is survived by his loving wife Christine “Chickie” Wortmann. They were married for over 30 years. He is also survived by his sister Joan Wortmann Jennings of Long Neck, Delaware; his three children Barbra Wortmann of Randolph, New Jersey; Herbert Dietrich Wortmann of Newton, New Jersey; Peter Wortmann of Randolph, New Jersey; his stepchildren Susan Preziotti of New York, New York; Christine Troost of Ponte Verda, Florida; Richard Preziotti of West Caldwell, New Jersey; and Donna Preziotti of Milan, Michigan; his grandchildren Aidan Wortmann, Sasha Preziotti and Gia Preziotti.
He is also survived by his niece Leslie Jennings of Woodstock, New York; nephews Walter Jennings of Hong Kong, China and Steven Jennings of Prospect, Kentucky.
A mass will be held at St. Paul the Apostle Church in Lighthouse Point, Florida on Saturday, July 14 at 12:00 p.m.
