David William Hand of Deerfield Beach, Florida passed away on July 3, 2021, at the age of 54, after battling cancer for over a year. David was born on June 20, 1967 in Cleveland, Ohio to William and Vada Hand. The Hands moved to Lighthouse Point, Florida in December of 1967. David attended Norcrest Elementary School, Deerfield Beach Middle School, and Deerfield Beach High School (class of 1985). He received a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Florida in Gainesville in 1990. David worked as an auto mechanic and shop foreman at Pompano Honda, now Hendrick Honda, for more than 20 years. He enjoyed playing baseball and golf, and watching sports of any kind. He was an avid fan of the Florida Gators. He loved his family, and was a loving father to Alexandra Lynne Hand and step-father to Kayla Anne Powell, and they meant the world to him.
David will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him. He was a loyal friend, who could always put others at ease, was always ready to lend a hand, and who had a good sense of humor. He is survived by his daughter, Alexandra Hand of Orlando; step-daughter, Kayla Powell of Orlando; his sister, Susan Hand Zimmermann, brother-in-law, Donald Zimmermann, and his nieces, Julia & Lauren Zimmermann of British Columbia, Canada.
A memorial service for David was held on July 12, 2021 at Kraeer-Becker Funeral Home in Deerfield Beach. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in David’s name to the American Cancer Society.
