Thomas E. Fitzgerald

Thomas E. Fitzgerald, 87 years old, passed away on Sunday, June 26, 2022, with his family by his side at home in Deer Park, New York. He is survived by his wife, Ann, of 67 wonderful years, 5 children; Stephen Fitzgerald, Edmond (Diane) Fitzgerald, Theresa (Gerard) Morale, Kathleen (Shawn) Mauldin, Ann Marie Shindel and Wayne Georgiades and sisters Joan Milmore and MaryAnn Buscemi and Brother Edmond.

Tom was born on April 6, 1935 in the Bronx, New York to Edmond & Ellen Fitzgerald. His father worked for NYC Transit and his mother worked for a publishing company in Manhattan. They lived on Valentine Avenue in the Bronx. Many summers were spent out in Mastic Beach at the family summer home.

He graduated from Cardinal Hayes High School in 1952.

In 1952 He met Ann at her surprise party. They married in May of 1955. Tom was a NYC 2nd Grade Detective for 28 years. They had five children together and eight grandchildren. After retiring from the NYC Police Department he worked for the NYC School Construction Authority for 10 years. After retiring dad and mom purchased a condo in Boynton Beach, Florida. They enjoyed 21 winters there with friends and family.

He was very involved in his community in Deer Park. He was an Usher and Sacristan at Saints Cyril & Methodius Church for many years. He also was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Proceeded in death by his parents, Edmond and Ellen Fitzgerald, his brother, Patrick (Joan) Fitzgerald and their son, Patrick Fitzgerald.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude.

A visitation for Thomas will be held Friday, July 1, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM and 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM at Claude R. Boyd/Caratozzolo Funeral Home, 1785 Deer Park Ave, Deer Park, New York 11729. A mass of christian burial will occur Saturday, July 2, 2022 at 10:15 AM at Ss Cyril & Methodius RC Church, 125 Half Hollow Rd, Deer Park, NY. Interment will follow at St Charles Cemetery, 2015 Wellwood Ave, Farmingdale, New York 11785.
