Stephen wasn't just an uncle to me; he was a cherished friend, a pillar of strength, a source of laughter, and a constant source of love to so many.

One of my earliest memories with Uncle Steve was on my fifth birthday. I was eagerly unwrapping presents, surrounded by family, when I came to a large wrapped box.

With a mischievous glint in his eye, Stephen pushed it over to me, and I tore off the wrapping paper, revealing a brand-new TV. I remember feeling so excited and thinking I must be the only kid in first grade who has their own personal TV! Steve's smile lit up the room as he shared in my joy.

But Steve wasn't just about gifts; he was also there for all the adventures, big and small. I remember one particular trip together when I was young, we were driving along the highway, and in a moment of childish curiosity, I somehow managed to open the car door on the Long Island Expressway, even with the child safety lock on.

With the door just slightly ajar, there was a whistling noise, prompting Uncle Steve to ask, “What’s that sound?” I panicked and pulled the door shut, my curiosity satisfied.

I never asked Uncle Steve if he knew what I did that day, but I’ve never forgotten the memory, and I never did anything like that again. Uncle Steve, if you’re learning about this for the first time, I hope you’re laughing.

I will greatly cherish the moments spent with him.  Memories that I will forever treasure and look back on fondly.

Anyone who knew Uncle Steve, knew loved boating, fishing and most importantly the Yankees.

Uncle Steve was also remarkably quick with a joke, and his laughter always filled the room, and his smile could brighten any day.

Though we say goodbye, I take comfort in knowing that Stephen's spirit will always be with us.

Uncle Steve you will be deeply missed, but your love, laughter and light will shine on in our hearts forever.
