Robert was a proud veteran of the US Army and served during peace time in Korea. Following life in the Army, Robert became a sales rep. for P.C. Richard and Son where he met his future wife, ViAnn Kiezek. They were married in 1969 and started a life in Melville, Long Island, NY. They have two daughters, Traci and Kristy.
Family was the focus of Robert’s life. He worked hard as a sales rep to provide experiences for his wife and children. Robert loved the water, and spent time on the Great South Bay and Davis Park, Fire Island where he met several life long friends. He introduced downhill skiing to his entire family and it has become a love of his children. When the children were school age, he brought his love of baseball to the girls, teaching them softball and coaching their teams. He was also seen on the Half Hollow Hills HS West football field as manager and was a lifelong fan.
Robert’s biggest passion was golf. In retirement, he spent hours perfecting his swing and playing with his closest friends.
Robert is survived by his wife of 55 years, ViAnn Klug of Melville, NY, daughters Traci and husband Michael Ross of Hudson Falls, NY and Kristy and husband James Kinsley of West Islip, NY. He was an adoring grandfather to Summer Grace and James Robert Kinsley and cherished brother of Marie “Terry” Makofske and the late John Klug.
