Patricia Maria Marques born on June 3, 1955, in Georgetown, Guyana, Patricia Maria Marques graced this world with her presence, a radiant soul whose light touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. On August 6, 2023, in Poughkeepsie, NY, surrounded by her adoring family, Patricia peacefully transitioned to the embrace of the divine.
The cherished daughter of the late Albert Marques and Theresa Reid, at the age of 33 years old, Patricia embarked on a journey that led her to the United States on June 30, 1990. A woman of extraordinary strength and unwavering determination, Patricia single-handedly raised four remarkable children, Marilyn Bacchus, Michael Boyd, Christina Antoine, and Nichola Lorimer. A Loving grandmother to Brittani Bacchus, Brianna Henry, Saniyah Clelland, Stephanie Manswell, Xavier Bacchus and Nathania Antoine.
Patricia's heart knew no bounds, for she was not just a mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, but an embodiment of love, kindness, and a free spirit who approached life with a no-nonsense attitude. She found joy in the simple pleasures – embarking on spontaneous road trips, forming deep connections with animals, and holding her family at the core of her being.
A true testament to her devotion, Patricia's love for her family extended beyond blood ties. She was an auntieto many, a sister to Mario Marques, Margaret Young, Wayne Marques, Christopher Marques, Andre and Suzette Hill.
Her affinity for angels, a reflection of her pure soul, was a testament to her deep faith. Patricia was someone upon whom you could always rely – a pillar of strength and unwavering support. In her well-deserved retirement, she found solace in the warmth of her family's love and the bond they shared.
As Patricia's journey continues beyond this realm, she joins her late Brother Terence and Charles Marques, Sister Monica Fitzpatrick, and Mother Theresa Hill and Father Albert Marques in the Kingdom of Heaven. In this sacred place, her spirit finds eternal peace and reunites with those who preceded her.
As we gather to remember and honor Patricia Maria Marques, let us find solace in these words from the Catholic Bible:
"St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil." – St. Michael Prayer
With gratitude for the gift of her presence and the eternal love she shared, Patricia's spirit will forever shine in our hearts, guiding us on our own earthly journeys. May she rest in eternal serenity, forever enveloped in the embrace of angels.
