James English "Jim" or more affectionately known as Jimbo to many family and friends, age 64, of Deer Park, New York passed away on Tuesday, February 11, 2025. Beloved brother of Susan and her husband Joseph Marino, Barbara and her husband John Horbatiuk and Kevin English and his partner Noreen Letta. Cherished uncle of Michael Horbatiuk, Joseph Marino, James Marino, Christopher Horbatiuk, Daniel Horbatiuk and Kevin English Jr. Adoring great uncle of Juliette Horbatiuk. Jim was predeceased in death by his parents Stella English and James English.
Jim loved nothing more than to spend time with his family and friends. A gentle soul that made anyone who knew him feel his genuine kindness. Often at the center of practical jokes and humorous family moments as either the instigator or recipient are testaments to his great sense of humor and the joy he found in life.
A dedicated son, taking care of his mother in her final years of life was a privilege that he was honored to do. After her loss he was blessed with two additions to the family that brought joy back into his life. His great niece Juliette and his puppy Bailey.
His love of listening to music encouraged him to learn to play and make music. Self taught guitar and keyboard player, he spent years as a guitarist with Tim Leitch and the Guitar Group at Ss. Cyril's Sunday evening mass. His favorite group The Grateful Dead would never be played at mass but that didn't stop Jim from loving them and recreating their sound on his own time.
A jack of all trades, holding a Masters degree, Jim worked many different jobs throughout his life. The two careers he found most rewarding were as a History Teacher in NYC and as a Security Guard at Madison Square Garden and Citi Field.
Jim fought hard to overcome health challenges. The void he leaves behind in the hearts of those who loved him is massive. To say he will be missed, loved and remembered forever is an understatement. Although we wish he could have stayed, we feel so lucky to have known him.
