Funeral for William "Bill" Smith, 67, of Decatur will be Sunday, August 12, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Austinville Baptist Church with Brother Randy Berry officiating and Roselawn Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Rock Creek Cemetery in Eva. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home. The body will be at the church one hour prior to the service.
Mr. Smith, who died Friday, August 10, 2012, at Decatur General Hospital, was born May 17, 1945. He was retired from Decatur City Schools and was an ordained minister and member of Austinville Baptist Church. Bill was a member of DAV Chapter 11, American Legion Post 15, VFW, 20th Special Forces and Vietnam Veterans Association. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Garrett Smith, his parents and one brother.
Survivors include one son, William Edward Smith and his wife, Leslie, of Decatur; two sisters, Fran Parker and Margaret "Bucky" McLemore, both of Decatur; and one granddaughter, Carley Brooke Smith of Decatur.
