A visitation for William will be held Wednesday, November 27, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Roselawn Funeral Home followed by a celebration of life service at 12:00 PM with Preacher Alan Watkins to officiate. William will be laid to rest in Roselawn Funeral Home and Cemetery.
William is survived by his wife, Amanda Mims McWhorter; special and loving kitty cat, “Scooter”; son, Bradley McWhorter and brother, Andy McWhorter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Hugh McWhorter, II and Annie Margaret McMillian McWhorter and a younger sister.
William was a medical lab manager at Lawrence County Hospital. This is where he met Amanda, and they spent a wonderful, loving 33 years married. They lived in a house divided as he was an Auburn fan, and Amanda was an Alabama fan. After he left the medical field, he opened a sports memorabilia shop in Decatur. After he closed the shop, he drove the special needs school bus for Decatur City. He had an amazing sense a humor and quick wit that will truly be missed.
Through much of William’s life, he was a church song leader. He led songs at Midway Church of Christ, Aldridge Grove Church of Christ, Beltline Church of Christ, Moulton Church of Christ and most recently Decatur Church of Christ.
Pallbearers will be members of the Decatur Church of Christ.
Roselawn Funeral Home has the honor of serving the family.
