Sarah Faye McDaniel Smith, 73, moved to her heavenly home on Tuesday, December 16, 2014. Faye had been a resident of Morgan County for 43 years, was born in Columbus, MS, and raised in Lamar County. She was a faithful and devoted member of Southside Baptist Church for 43 years. She co-founded Smith Service Corporation in 1971 and was instrumental in its growth and continued success until her death.Faye was preceded in death by her parents, Ruby and Clarence McDaniel; mother and father-in-law, Icie and Amon Smith; sister-in-law, Viola Pugh; and brother-in-law, Dr. David Bowers.Her survivors include her husband of almost 54 years, Bill J. Smith; three sons, Rick Smith (Leighanne) of Decatur, Randy Smith of Madison and Rusty Smith of Northport; daughter-in-law, Yvonne Birdsell Smith of Decatur; three grandsons, Jonathan Smith of Birmingham, Wilson Smith of Hartselle and Jordan Smith of Decatur; two brothers, Tommy McDaniel (Cindy) of Saks, AL, and Bobby McDaniel (Diane) of Shelby County; two sisters-in-law, Maylene Cobb of Texas and Betty Bowers of Decatur; brother-in-law, Tom Pugh (Jo) of Union Springs; several nieces, nephews, and other family members.Pallbearers will be Kirk Cochran, Donny Billions, Anthony Davis, Randall Payne, Charlie Pointer, Donnie Church, Richard Payne and Jimmy "Bo" Ballinger.Honorary pallbearers will be Smith Service Corp. and Environmental Comfort Systems, Inc. employees.A celebration of life for Faye will be Friday, December 19, 2014, at 2 p.m. at Southside Baptist Church with Dr. Ben Hayes and Jonathan Smith officiating and Roselawn Funeral home directing. Visitation will be from 12-2 p.m. at the church.In lieu of flowers, Faye and the family would be honored by donations of new and unwrapped toys for any age clearly noted with the giver (for recognition purposes) brought to the church the day of the service. These gifts will be distributed to deserving families in the area to bring joy and love while spreading his message of hope.
