Funeral services for Ray Washburn, 88, of Decatur will be Thursday, January 30, 2014, at 3 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Mark Posey officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 2:45 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Washburn passed away Monday, January 27, 2014, at Decatur Morgan Hospital. He was born February 8, 1925, in Decatur to William and Zora Washburn. Mr. Washburn retired from Conagra and was a member of Austinville Church of Christ. He was a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather. He enjoyed gardening, working outside, entertaining his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, a good joke, Larry's Country Diner and baseball. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Madgie Price Washburn; daughter, Yolanda Johnson; sisters, Ruby Battles, Ruthie Mae McRight, Lucille Hicks and Irene Lamon; and one brother, Lewis Washburn. He is survived by his daughter, Karen Brink and son-in-law, John Brink; sister, Pearl Markum (Wade); grandchildren, Rhonda Stephens (Bruce), Amanda Johnson, Alana Johnson and John Brink III (Leslie); great-grandchildren, Gavin Stephens, Bryant Stephens, Jackson Stephens, Jeff Brink, Ashley Putnam and Savannah Speakman. Honorary pallbearers will be Elders and friends from Austinville Church of Christ. Donations may be made to Meals on Wheels or Austinville Church of Christ.
