Orlyn Olney Lockard, Jr. MD

Orlyn Olney Lockard, Jr., M.D. , 64, of Decatur, passed away on January 14, 2013 at his residence. Visitation will be Saturday, January 19, 2013 from 1-3 PM at Roselawn Funeral Home followed by the service at 3 PM.

Dr. Lockard was born in Cape Girardeau, MO to Orlyn and Daphene Lockard. Orlyn is predeceased by his father, Orlyn Lockard, Sr. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Marla Lockard; sons, Orlyn O. Lockard, III and wife Victoria and Michael Lockard and wife Jessica ; Daughter, Brittany Lockard; mother, Daphene Lockard; sister, Jo Burden and husband Ted; grandchildren, Orlyn O. Lockard, IV “Ollie”, Rowan Lockard, Tessa Lockard, and Henry Lockard.

Orlyn received his undergraduate degree from the University of Kansas with honors. He was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Beta Upsilon, National Residence Hall Honorary, Centennial College Advisory Committee Chairman, Centennial College Scholarship and Probation Committee, President of the Residence Hall Association, Chancellor’s Advisory Committee, Omicron Delta Kappa (SACHEM).

Dr. Lockard attended Medical School at the University of Missouri where he graduated with honors and was 1st in class. He was a member of Phi Kappa Phi, Alpha Omega Alpha, Chairman of Student Executive Committee, Long-Range Planning Faculty, and Executive Committee .

He was Board Certified in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine, and belonged to the American Gastroenterologic Association, American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, American College of Physicians, American Society of Internal Medicine, and the American Medical Association.
