Marilyn Deloris Baer, born on May 1, 1934, in Altenburg, Missouri, passed away peacefully on the morning of December 18, 2024. She was a gracious and greatly loved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.
On February 14, 1953, she married her husband, Douglas Milton. Together, they raised four sons in Florida and Louisiana, eventually retiring to Oklahoma. They later returned to Monroe, Louisiana, where they enjoyed lifelong friendships in their church and community.
Marilyn and Doug later moved to Decatur, Alabama. She is preceded in death by Doug, her husband of sixty-seven years; her brother-in-law Dale; her beloved son Craig; and her great-granddaughter Eva.
Just as she carefully tended a host of beautiful plants—including a Boston fern older than her grandchildren!—she cultivated a legacy of love as her family grew. The impact of her life and faith still blooms through her brother Ken and his wife Susan, her sister Laverne, and their families, along with her children: David and his wife Beth, Kevin and his wife Nancy, and Brian and his wife Tammy. She is fondly remembered by her eight grandchildren, who share their stories of Mawmaw/Grandma with her sixteen great-grandchildren.
Despite the trials of aging, even in her final days she reminded her family of Proverbs 31:25: “She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future.” Her family mourns, yet with joy, celebrating Marilyn’s completed life.
Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, Decemeber 21 at 1 PM at Roselawn Funeral Home.
