Lavada C. Smith, 82, of Decatur, passed away Tuesday, July 18, 2017. She was born September 5, 1934 to Samuel and Willie Chapman. She was a member of Cedar Ridge Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Clarence Riggins; second husband, Robert K. Smith; brothers, Kelly Chapman, Leola Chapman, Dearl Chapman, and Wilson Chapman; sister, Zelma Childress. Lavada’s memories will be cherished by her sons, David Riggins (Debbie) and Johnny Smith (Donna); daughter, Angie Smith; grandson, Eric Smith; 6 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, July 21, 2017, at 12:00 pm at Roselawn Funeral Home with Brother Hugh Bolin officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, July 20, 2017, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.
