Jimmy Lee Knight, Sr., 90, of Decatur, passed away at his home on Friday, August 26, 2022. He was born on July 27, 1932 to Edgar and Flossie Knight of Haleyville, AL. Jimmy was a Veteran of the United States Army. He was stationed in Okinawa, Japan during the Korean War, where he mastered the sport of ping pong.
After leaving the Army, he returned home to Haleyville, where he married the love of his life, Patricia Sisson. They were married for 62 years until she preceded him in death on May 7, 2022.
Jimmy worked for Decatur General Hospital until his retirement in 1994. He was a sweet, loving and gentle man who exemplified the meaning of unconditional love.
He had a passion for fishing and a love for flowers and landscaping. He knew Jesus as his Savior.
Jimmy was preceded in death by two brothers, O’Neal Knight and Daryll Knight; one sister, Margaret Elliot and his wife, Patricia Knight.
He is survived by one son, Jimmy Lee Knight, Jr. and one daughter, Linda Cecil; a daughter in law, Jane Knight and a son in law, Craig Cecil, whom he also considered his children; two granddaughters, Jessica Eubanks (David), who named him Diddy, and Jennifer Sanford (Jay); one grandson, Patrick Knight (Mary Kate); three great granddaughters, Taylor, Stella and Scarlett and three great grandsons, Cooper, Luther and Thatcher.
Visitation will be on Thursday, September 1, 2022, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Roselawn Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 PM at Roselawn Cemetery with Bro Steve Smith officiating.
