Funeral for Mr. Gray will be Wednesday, October 25, at 2:15 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 24 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.at Roselawn Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Legg Cemetery in Limestone County, Alabama.
Mr. Gray was born September 13, 1929, in Salem Community, Alabama, to Lerman and Mildred Gray.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Sarah Gray; --2 sisters, Joyce Dean McGill, of Salem Community, Alabama, and Dorothy Eubanks, of Nashville, Tenn., --several nieces; --nephews; -- grandnieces; -- grand nephews.
Pallbearers will be John Vinson, Dr. Edwin Morris, Tommy Eubanks, Greg Eubanks, Ronnie Eubanks, Phil McGill, and Phillip McGill.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Charles Riley, David Hokett, Tommy Sharpe, Bill Prewett, James Scott, Aaron Clarke, Bill Lowery and .
Mr. Gray graduated from West Limestone High School in Salem Community in 1948. He served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953 in the U.S.A. and Japan. On discharge from the service, he worked at Chemstrand/Monsanto from February 1953 to May of 1997, when he retired as Supervisor of Office Services and Security. He was transferred to Pensacola, Fla, with Monsanto in 1959, and transferred back to Decatur in 1969.He attended Athens University and the University of West Florida in Pensacola, Florida. He received his BS Degree in Business Administration from The University of West Florida, Pensacola, Florida. He was a lifetime member of Craig’s Chapel Church of Christ in Salem, and attended Southside Baptist Church in Decatur. He was a member of the Rising Sun Lodge No. 29, Decatur; Cahaba Shrine Club, a member of A&A Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, a member of the Legion of Honor, Huntsville Shrine Center; a member of Moulton Chapter No. 412, Order of the Eastern Star; and former member of Mizpah Chapter No. 19 O.E.S., and Mary Lou Dancy Chapter No. 320, and served as Grand Sentinel in Order of the Eastern Star in 1998-1999.
