Franklin David Hames, 85, of Decatur, passed away on August 27, 2018. A visitation for Mr. Hames will be on Thursday, August 30, 2018, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Roselawn Funeral Home. A graveside service will be on Friday, August 31, 2018, at 10:00 am in Roselawn Cemetery.
Mr. Hames was born on April 6, 1933 in Hillsboro, AL to parents, Joseph and Ina-Lila Hames. He was a country boy that loved fishing and telling jokes; there was never a dull moment when he was around. Mr. Hames was an active soldier in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He later spent his working life as a carpenter and machinist. He enjoyed going on outings with his beloved wife, one of his favorite places to go was Sami’s Place. Mr. Hames was a family man, and he loved his family dearly. He was an avid Alabama fan. He always wore a smile on his face, and he never met a stranger. Mr. Hames will be missed by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Doris Jean Hames, his parents, siblings, Pleasant E. Hames, Ida Dell Hudson, James B. Hames, Doris “Dot” Woodard, Joe Hames, Harold R. Hames, Marjorie Lovett, and Mary Dutton.
He is survived by his daughters, Pamela Milligan (Darrell), Diane Couch (Greg), and Lori Cummings (Doug); grandchildren, Christopher Milligan, Samantha Whitaker, Joseph Whitaker, Rebecca Mitchell, Cessily Daniel, Kaitlyn Couch; great-grandchildren, Marqus Dunn, Cameron Allen, Kirsten Whitaker, Riley Mitchell, Cayson Whitaker; one brother, Jerry Hames, and numerous nieces and nephews.
