Frances Ann Free, of Decatur, Alabama, passed away on September 9, 2024. Visitation will be on Friday, September 13, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Roselawn Funeral Home. A graveside service will immediately follow the visitation at Roselawn Cemetery with Pastor Rich Thompson officiating.
Frances was born on June 26, 1937, in Morgan County and graduated from Austinville High School, where she met her husband of 70 years. Frances is survived by her spouse, Robert W. Free, son, Mike (Stephanie) Free, and daughter, Kelli (Mike) Shelton. She also survived by her grandchildren, Lindsey (Cory) Parker, Tyler Free, Robbie Shelton, and Katelyn (Matthew) Lindsey, and her sister, Dorothy Harvey. She is survived by six great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her caregiver, Laura Ininequez of 10 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mildred and Mabel Rigel, and her brother, Herman Rigel.
Frances was a full-time homemaker, a great mother to her children and was involved in their sports activities. She played the piano at Sunday school @ Central Baptist Church for many years. She enjoyed being at the beach, sewing, and working with flowers in her yard. She was very athletic and enjoyed playing basketball in an independent league. She loved going to Alabama football games. She always took pride in her appearance and always loved her jewelry that matched her outfits.
Pallbearers will be Mike Free, Mike Shelton, Tyler Free, Robbie Shelton, Matthew Lindsey, Aydin Shelton, and Brantley Brown.
The family would like to thank Hospice of the Valley for their care of Mrs. Free.
