Arthur Forrest Jordan Sr.

Memorial service for Arthur Forrest Jordan Sr., 83, of Decatur will be Saturday, November 10, 2012, at 11 a.m. at St. John's Episcopal Church with the Reverend Evan D. Garner officiating. Interment will follow in St. John's Columbarium. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. in the church parlor.Mr. Jordan, who died Wednesday, November 7, 2012, at Decatur Morgan Hospital, was born August 1, 1929, in Birmingham to Turner and Lelia Mae Lincoln Jordan. He served as a first lieutenant in the U.S. Naval Reserves, graduated from Howard College (now Samford University) and Auburn University where he was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity with a degree in chemical engineering. He retired as a manufacturing superintendent from Monsanto. He served in the Kairos Prison Ministry and as a lay rector for Cursillo. He enjoyed stained glass, gardening, travel, sailing and needlepoint. Mr. Jordan was a member of Hosta Society, Botanical Gardens of Huntsville and active participant of St. John's Friday Morning Reunion Group. He cherished opportunities to share love with his friends and family through church, work, Cursillo and Kairos. He loved being in the mountains and on the Gulf Coast, traveling abroad for pleasure and on mission trips. His parents preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Lillian McGehee Jordan; one son, Arthur Forrest Jordan Jr. and wife, Sandra; one daughter, Celia Jordan Denney and husband, Gordon; one brother, Jerome Turner Jordan and wife, Betty Sue; and three grandchildren, Haley Marie Jordan, Davis Jordan Denney and Katherine Ann Denney.

Honorary pallbearers will be Harold McGehee, Jerry Jordan, David Jordan, Tim McGehee, Kevin McGehee, Jason McGehee, Suzanne Jordan Deriso and St. John's Friday Morning Reunion Group.
