Yoshiko (Okamura) Brockman passed away suddenly on October 19, 2023, while at a gym where she lived in Beavercreek, Ohio. Yoshiko (Yoshi) was born on October 11, 1947 in Iwakuni, Japan to Hathutaro and Masuyo Okamura and was one of eight children. When she completed secondary school, she went on to vocational school as a dressmaker. She met her husband, Larry Crutchfield, a U.S. Marine, in Iwakuni and they married on September 24, 1974 in Fukuoka. They returned to the United States and had daughter, Erika, in Lansing, Michigan, followed 3 years later by daughter, Tina, born in Portsmouth, Virginia.
As a military family she moved often, even going back to Japan for a few years. In 1983, they moved to Oceanside, CA. After her first marriage, it was here she met her devoted husband, Tyrone Brockman. With this union, Yoshi was blessed with three more children to love-Tracy, Tammy, and Tara. While Tyrone (Ty) served in the Gulf War, Yoshi relocated to Escondido, CA. Upon his retirement, they married on September 6, 1991 and bought a house in Escondido, where they enjoyed home improvement projects together. They also worked side by side at Aero Laminators for many years. She lived in Escondido from 1989 to 2020 until her beloved Ty passed. Afterwards, she moved to Beavercreek, OH where her daughter Tina resides.
Yoshiko was an accomplished seamstress and professional tailor. Her talents not only included sewing, but making Kimekomi dolls and jewelry under her Dragonfly Gems business. She also enjoyed crafting, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren and pets. She was caring, helpful, and hard working. Above all, she had a deep love for her family and remained loyal and dedicated to them all.
Yoshiko is preceded in death by her husband Tyrone, her parents and several siblings.
She is survived by an older brother and sister in Japan, her children Erika McMahon (Michael), Tina Anderson (Chris), Tracy Brockman (Elena), Tammy Miklovic (Jaja), and Tara Burns (Stephen). Yoshi also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren-Emily Laverty (Ian), Honor Anderson, Jonathan Dorney, Christopher Anderson, Trevor Burns (Nicole), Sierra Burns (fiancé Greg), Sean Miklovic (Moriah), Sara Miklovic (Erik), Anna Davis (Ian), Emma Miklovic, and Cara Miklovic. She was also blessed with eight great-grandchildren-Soren Laverty, Harrison Burns, Thomas Miklovic, Zofia Baustista, Vyara Miklovic, James Davis, Evelyn Davis, and Milyana Miklovic.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to a Veterans charity of your choice to honor her long standing commitment and support as a military wife.
Yoshiko will join her husband Tyrone at Miramar National Cemetery in San Diego, CA, with a memorial service to be held at a later date. Tobias Funeral Home in Beavercreek, Ohio in charge of arrangements.
